Cement block making

Simbaa Cement is a dynamic business run by Mr Makupa, a young entrepreneur in Arusha. This town, the largest in northern Tanzania, is expanding rapidly, requiring new houses, factories and offices to be built. The cement blocks are made using a mechanical machine using cement, gravel, sand and water. The process is fairly manual, needing a large amount of labour, except for the mixer and block presser. The block making machine is running at full capacity and they are selling their daily production. Mr Makupa came to us to finance a second cement mixer and machine. This will create a further 6 full-time jobs for labourers to make the blocks.
