EFA customers win awards
EFA customers win Tanzanian Private Sector Foundation awards for their business systems and expansion plans.
Two
EFA customers recently won awards from the Tanzanian Private Sector
Foundation (TPSF) on the basis of their business systems and growth
opportunities. Mr.
Kweka, a flour processor featured in our last
newsletter, won a ~$1,100 voucher to stabilise raw material
supplies. Mr. Jacob Shuma, who runs a rice hulling business, won a ~$1,100 voucher to fund more advertising. The
awards were part of the national Business Diagnostics Programme
competition, run by the Business Development Gateway arm of the TPSF,
with awards in categories such as marketing or
production.
Mr. Shuma also won ~$4,100 through a second TPSF initative, the Tanzania Business Development Scheme. Entrepreneurs submit growth plans, and the winners are reimbursed 50% of qualifying implementation costs retrospectively, e.g. training, marketing or research. Mr. Shuma's winning plan includes market research to improve the production process, training for employees and TV and radio advertising.
