Volunteering opportunities
We are looking for experienced people to get involved and provide advice to the businesses in which we invest. Although we invest in a variety of businesses, some of them are in the same sector, but all face challenges in common. The key areas where help is needed are:
- Marketing and product development
- Operations and quality control
- Procurement, particularly where we have several businesses using the same inputs, such as sunflower seeds
- Management information.
Getting involved would mean travel to Tanzania to get to know the businesses you want to get involved in and follow-up directly with the entrepreneur or via our office in Moshi, which can be done remotely. This engagement would suit a retireree or someone on a career break particularly well and enable you to give something back after or during a successful career in the business world. Alternatively, if you have some business experience and are looking for the opportunity to prove yourself and make a difference as part of an MBA or other professional development course, then this may be the opportunity for you.
Tell Our Story – Publicity Volunteer
Equity for Africa is looking for a volunteer to help to bring the benefits of the investments we make to life. We have invested in more than 20 small businesses which are creating jobs and making a difference to people’s lives. We need someone to help us tell their story through words, photos and any other means you may think effective.
You would communicate with Israel and Hekela in Tanzania to find the facts about how our investment has made a difference. Your talents will then bring these to life for our current and potential supporters. The main medium is expected to be our website and newsletters, but if you have more imaginative suggestions, then we would love to hear about them.
